Dear Squad Members,
These last couple of months have been very fruitful. Many of you have made great improvement in the classroom, weightroom and with basic skills. The coaching staff is very excited to continue working with you on a daily basis. I want to assure you all that with each passing day, much improvement is going to continue to happen. You boys have a great number of people working to improve your football program. Together we can continue to make great things happen. I wish all players the best of luck with the upcoming sports seasons. Please continue to dream big and work hard. Please try to encourage more players to work hard and come out to workouts and practice. We need everyone to contribute to make the upcoming season a success. Remember, being part of any program at Warrior Run is a privilege. You are representing many people when you put on that uniform. I hope to see many of you at the upcoming speed clinic and throughout the spring season. Thanks for your dedication and support! Keep up the good work!
Thanks,
Head Football Coach

THE LION AND THE BOAR
One hot summer's day, a Lion and a Boar came to a small well at the same moment. They were both very thirsty, and began at once to argue as to who should be the first drink. Neither would give in to the other. They were about to come to blows when the lion looked up and saw some vultures in the sky above them. "Look!" said the Lion. Those vultures see us fighting and they are hungry. They are waiting to feed upon the loser." "Then let us settle our quarrel." said the Boar. "It is better for us to make friends than to become the food of vultures," "I agree, " the Lion said, "IN THE FACE OF COMMON DANGER, SMALL DIFFERENCES ARE BEST FORGOTTEN."

AUGUSTINE -
THE MAN WHO THINKS HE CAN
IF YOU THINK YOUR BEATEN, YOU ARE;
IF YOU THINK YOU DARE NOT, YOU DON'T.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO WIN BUT THINK YOU CAN'T, IT'S ALMOST A CINCH YOU WON'T.
IF YOU THINK YOU'LL LOSE, YOU'RE LOST, FOR OUT IN THE WORLD WE FIND SUCCESS BEGINS WITH A FELLOW'S WILL;
IT'S ALL IN THE STATE OF MIND
MANY A RACE IS LOST
BEFORE EVER A STEP IS RUN
AND MANY A COWARD FAILS
BEFORE EVER HIS WORK'S
BEGUN
THINK BIG AND YOUR DREAMS WILL GROW
THINK SMALL AND YOU'LL FALL BEHIND
THINK THAT YOU CAN, AND YOU WILL
IT'S ALL IN THE STATE OF MIND
IF YOU THINK YOUR OUTCLASSED YOU ARE
YOU'VE GOT TO THINK HIGH TO RISE
YOU'VE GOT TO BE SURE OF YOURSELF BEFORE
YOU CAN EVER WIN A PRIZE
LIFE'S BATTLES DO NOT ALWAYS GO
TO THE STRONGER OR FASTER MAN
BUT SOON OR LATE THE MAN WHO WINS
IS THE FELLOW WHO THINKS HE CAN
IT'S ALL A STATE OF OF MIND!

WORK!
"Whenever you start - give it your best. The opportunities are there to be anything you want to be. But wanting to be someone isn't enough; dreaming about it isn't enough; thinking about it isn't enough; You've got to study for it, work for it, fight with all your heart and soul, because nobody is going to hand it to you."
General Colin Powell
"Success doens't come to you... you go to it."
Marva Collins
Persistence
"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genious will not; unrewarded genious is almost a proverb. Education alone will not; the world is full of educated failures. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent."
Calvin Coolidge

A disciplined player...
1. Knows the importance of being on time.
2. Has learned the value of regular hours and good training habits from working hard in practice.
3. Has learned that the team comes before himself. This strengthens his character as he is sometimes called upon to sacrifice for others.
4. Has learned to take orders: he learns how to give them.
5. Knows that discipline is the essence of every successful organization: as a member of a team he understands the need for it.
6. Has learned that many of these things establish a degree of self-discipline.
A disciplined football team...
1. Doesn't beat itself by mistakes.
2. Keeps penalties to a minimum.
3. Is always ready to play-Intensity.
4. Has the guts to come from behind.
5. Rises above ADVERSITY.
6. NEVER, NEVER, QUITS.
YOU HAVE TO HAVE CONFIDENCE IN YOUR ABILITY, AND THEN BE TOUGH ENOUGH TO FOLLOW THROUGH!
ATTITUDE -
A quote by William James
"The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind."

The Falconer and the Partridge
A Falconer one day discovered a partridge in the nets he had set out to trap some birds. As he approached his prey, the bird cried out, "Please sir, let me go. If you but free me, I promise you I will lure many other partridges into your nets." "No," replied the Falconer. "I might have set you free, but you well deserve your fate. FOR TO BETRAY ONES FRIENDS TO SAVE ONESELF IS A VILE CRIME".
A quote from Bob Richards
"One of the greatest lessons I've learned in athletics is that you've got to discipline your LIFE. No matter how good you may be, you've got to be willing to cut out of your life those things that keep you from going to the TOP."
A quote from Jerry West
" You can't get much done in life if you only work on the days you feel good."
When No One else Is Looking
Discipline is what you do when no one else is looking! It's being considerate of the other person. Having good personal habits-you are polite, on time, and take care of business with pride. We must be disciplined as individuals first, and then as a team.
Thanks for giving your best! I commend all of the student athletes that continue to work hard. The next few years will fly by like a whisper. Please continue to grow and improve in all you do. Remember... there is only one of you in the whole world.

Union and Strength/Team Rules/Discipline
The Bundle of Sticks
A father had a family of sons who were always quarreling among themselves. He tried in every way to teach them to get along, but still they quarreled. Then one day he called his sons together and showed them a bundle of sticks. He asked each of them in turn to break the bundle. Each son tried with all his strength, but not one could even bend it. Then the father untied the bundle and separated the sticks.
To each of his sons he gave a stick. "Now try", he said. And each son broke his stick easily.
Then the father said, "My sons if you remain united you will be as strong as the bundle of sticks. But if you are divided among yourselves, you will be broken as easily as you have broken the sticks. KNOW THAT IN UNION THERE IS STRENGTH."
Team Rules
1. No tobacco products of any kind.
2. No alcohol or drugs of any kind.
3. No use of profanity of any kind.
4. Punctual to all meetings and practices.
5. Give 100% in the classroom and on the field.
6. Treat people the way you want to be treated.
Given the situation that
any of the above team rules are broken or compromised in any way, the staff has the ability and responsibility to dismiss the player from the team.
1. We must think before we act.
2. We must do what has to be done
3. When it has to be done.
4. As well as it can be done.
5. And do it that way all the time.
Our goals are set high and to achieve them we must have discipline in school, at home , and on the field.
Thanks,

Dear Squad Member:
I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season. It is now time for me to tell you we must get back to work. I know some of you have been lifting and playing other sports. I commend you on your efforts. I will try to tell you in as few words as possible what we hope to accomplish in the off-season by stating our objectives. We need your cooperation and help if we are to succeed. Please try to reread this letter throughout the off season each week to remind yourself of our objectives. Please decide if you are helping to solve your team's problems for this fall.--"Are you a part of the question or a part of the answer?" The objectives are:
1) Develop Fundamentals.
How hard do you study?
How well do you move?
How strong are you?
2) Develop Morale and Willingness to Sacrifice.
How good do you want to be? A boy who places personal glory and success above the best interests of the team is a liability rather than an asset. You wil not play well unless you enjoy the game and give your best on every play. If you have morale we can win many games that look hopeless.
3)Develop Consistency.
The team that wins makes the fewest numbers of bad plays. Performance is something that matters a great deal. Potential makes no difference. What a boy might have done has lost many games. WE Will MAKE OUR DECISIONS ON WHAT DID YOU DO, NOT WHAT CAN YOU DO.
4) Evaluate Our Squad.
We hope to find boys who qualify according to these standards so that we can prepare them and get them into games next fall. According to the best authorities, it is too late to make these decisions this fall.
If the boy qualifies for the above distinction he will have no study or behavior problems off the field. Responsibility, conduct, loyalty, and discipline come from within. The boy who wants to be a good athlete will not let outside influences to hinder him. Great accomplishments do not come from wishful thinking. If enough of our squad are willing to pay the price we can have a great year. The start is as important as the finish.
Sincerely Yours,
Christopher Eiswerth
